Robert’s wake-up call came when he couldn’t enjoy a family trip to Universal Studios because of his weight, 500 lbs (227 kg) at the time. But it took eight months before he took action and began a keto diet, intermittent fasting and also started tracking his food.

Experts agree that lifestyle and dietary intervention can help prevent and manage type 2 diabetes. But what diet to use has been under much debate, and many experts have historically been sceptical towards low-carb diets, while a growing minority are very much in favor.

Low carbohydrate diets as the preferred choice in type 2 diabetes is controversial. Some guidelines maintain that no single ideal percentage distribution of calories from different macronutrients (carbohydrates, fat, or protein) exists, but there are calls to review this in light of emerging evidence on the potential benefits of low carbohydrate diets for weight management and glycaemic control.

I just finished the two-week challenge and I am so pleased with the results! I am a 61-year old female from South Carolina. I lost 9 lbs (4 kg) and 1 inch (2.5 cm) around my waist. This morning, my blood sugar was down to 89!
The food was delicious and easy to prepare. I loved having the menu available to look ahead at, and the shopping list was a big help. I have not felt hungry between meals. The only downside for me has been eating eggs every morning. I like eggs, but no matter how you prepare them they are still eggs, so a couple of mornings I just fasted.
